Unified search bar
Recently in John Gruber’s podcast he and his guest discussed the strangeness of having the unified search bar in OSX but not in iOS.
Here’s my theory: we all know that Apple wants to rid itself of Google in anyway it can; using a unified search address bar helps them accomplish this. My personal browsing habits lead me to Google almost everything, even when it is a web address that I know. I do this for one main reason, I want Google to catch my typos so that I don’t accidentally end up on a nefarious site. Now Apple will glad complete the address from my history or bookmarks. I don’t have the option. Before I was doing all of this typing in the Google search field.
Apple seems to have a strategy of death by a thousand cuts for Google.
